The riksho, a human-powered vehicle from Japan, arrived in Durban in 1892 and grew to 3000 by 1902, becoming a city icon. Inspired by their artistic nature, a fashion line was created to honor rikshos, symbolizing the transition from transport to shoes and clothing.
